These were taken last March.
The entire west bank of the Willamette River in downtown Corvallis is a park. It’s not a very wide park but it makes for a nice walk particularly after a dinner at any one of the many fine restaurants across the street. These ducks were hanging out at the north end of the park on the gravel boat launch.
Mallards are a favorite duck of mine. It’s a good thing as they are the most common duck in Oregon. Sure the guys are all flashy and suave but it’s the hens that charm me. Mallard hens tend to be sassy and loud. They make up for their drab, in comparison, plumage with attitude. This sassy lady calmly eyed me while I took her portrait.
