Giraffes at the Zoo

Reticulated Giraffe

I find giraffes endearing.

There is a lovely bumbling grace to them, like an adolescent athlete. This pigeon toed giraffe was an adolescent, one of two juveniles at the zoo.

Of course, they may seem bumbling but they could kick my hiney in no time flat.

Mom and dad kept a close eye on the youngsters when dad wasn’t chasing mom around the enclosure. Seems if he has anything to say about it there will be baby giraffes in the zoos future.

Southern Ground Hornbill

This eye catching bird is a Southern Ground Hornbill and shared the enclosure with the giraffes. Why yes, they are predators but they are lovely and I love the eyelashes.
